Just in time for the holidays, The Players Club of Swarthmore makes a splash with the Disney family musical The Little Mermaid Nov. 24 to Dec. 9, for 12 performances at 614 Fairview Ave. in Swarthmore. Ryan Stone directs, with choreography by Maria Byers and Emily Fishman, and musical direction by Kevin Gane. Buy tickets online at www.pcstheater.org.
The Little Mermaid takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid, Ariel (Stacy DiCandilo, Springfield), longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy King Triton (Richard Johnson, Secane), her father and king of all the sea, escape the clutches of Ursula (Shelli Haynes Ezold, Havertown), the evil sea witch, and convince Prince Eric (Ben Long, West Chester) that she's the girl with the perfect voice. Will love conquer all? Does Prince Eric come to the rescue or can Sebastian (Matthew Prince, Media), Scuttle (Danielle Marone, Phoenixville) and Flounder (Ella Grossman, Swarthmore) save Ariel and her world under the sea? Familiar tunes include "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," and "Part of Your World."
