Bucks County Playhouse premieres the new musical, A TASTE OF THINGS TO COME. Bucks County Playhouse Artistic Associate Lorin Lotarro, also choreographer for Sarah Bareilles' upcoming Broadway musical WAITRESS, will direct and choreograph 'TASTE', the saucy new musical with book, music and lyrics by Debra Barsha and Hollye Levin. The show began previews at Bucks County Playhouse (70 S. Main Street, New Hope, PA) on January 30 and runs until February 21st.
The cast features Ariana Shore as Joan Smith, Erin Mackey (Broadway: "Wicked," "Sondheim on Sondheim," "Anything Goes") as Connie Olsen, Allison Guinn (Broadway: "On the Town," "Hair") as Dottie O'Farrell, and Gina Naomi Baez (Netflix original series "Orange is the New Black") as Agnes Crookshank.
In A TASTE OF THINGS TO COME it is the 1950s in Winnetka, IL and four women meet every Wednesday to share recipes and secrets. The Betty Crocker cooking contest may not change their lives, but the 1960s sure will!
Barsha, the associate conductor of Broadway's "Jersey Boys," is a Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Award Winner for her score to the Keith Haring musical, "Radiant Baby." Levin, a composer/lyricist with two gold records ("By Heart" with Jim Brickman and "Here in My Heart" with Jason Derlatka) is also well known for her book, music and lyrics for the stand-up comedy musical "Funny Business" which was work-shopped at the Kennedy Center and Mark Taper Forum and presented in a world-premiere production at Los Angeles' Coronet Theater.
Lena Gabrielle will serve as the production's musical director. Steven Kemp is scenic designer with lighting design byNathan W. Scheuer and costume design by Dana Burkart. Robert Killenberger serves as sound designer.
