Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) is set to host a group of veteran improvisers who will create something never before seen in Philadelphia during the Fringe. In Dazed and Amused: The 24 Hour Improv Marathon, eight of Philadelphia's finest and funniest improvisers will put their skills to the ultimate test in a 24 hour marathon of improv comedy. These bravely funny folks will improvise for 24 hours straight in a feat of wit that has never been seen in Philadelphia before.

Beginning at midnight on Saturday, September 12 and ending at midnight on Sunday, September 13, Dazed and Amused will be performed at the Adrienne Theater at 2030 Sansom Street. Tickets are $10 per two hour block available through the Fringe Festival box office or $25 for a "Round the Clock" ticket, allowing audiences to have access to the show for the full 24 hours, which will be available at the theater. More information is available online at www.phillyimprovtheater.com or at 267-233-1556. Tickets are on sale through Live Arts and Philly Fringe. They are available at www.phillyfringe.org.

During Dazed and Amused, audiences will see these talented performers showcase all that improvisation has to offer including long and short form improv, musical improv and much more. The talented ensemble includes some of Philadelphia's funniest performers including: Karen Getz of Suburban Love Songs and Disco Descending, Nathan Holt of Compleat Works of William Shakespeare, Mary Carpenter of ComedySportz and PTC's recent presentation of Second City, and Alexis Simpson of Rare Bird Show.

Throughout the 24 hours, audiences will have the opportunity to visit multiple times by purchasing an "Round the Clock" ticket, or just join in the fun for shorter times, building up to the final two hours which promise to be the most challenging, unpredictable and hilarious two hours of the Fringe Festival. The event will also be live streamed on the internet so performers can take suggestions from viewers across the country. Players will eat, rest and even use the bathrooms within the theatre walls of the Adrienne Theater and then have to incorporate those activities into whatever improv scene or game is happening on stage.

People leave improvisation shows often saying "How did they do that." Dazed and Amused: The 24 Hour Improv Marathon takes that question to the next level, asking Improvisation artists to stretch the limits of their creative innovative minds to see what happens when we go beyond what's predictable, beyond what's safe, beyond considered possibility. The outcome is unknown, it is the journey that will determine the end. Dazed and Amused: The 24 Hour Improv Marathon is the art of the impossible turned possible.

Dazed and Amused is a joint production between Philly Improv Theater and Freefall Productions.

About Philly Improv Theater

Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) is the only longform improvisation theater in the Metro Philadelphia area. Founded as a nonprofit in 2005, PHIT embraces the art of improvisation as an end rather than a means - creating and producing improv, sketch, and alternate comedy shows in the tradition of theaters like Chicago's Second City and New York's Upright Citizens Brigade. To further this philosophy, PHIT offers it's own take on the theories and concepts behind good improvisation in a full curriculum of classes for performers of all skill levels taught by local talent and through master classes with distinguished performers and teachers from all over the world (including Impro author Keith Johnstone, Joe Bill and Mark Sutton of The Second City, and former SNL writer Ali Farahnakian). In addition to performing as part of PHIT's weeklong residency at The Shubin Theatre each month, local improv troupes produced and presented by PHIT have toured extensively on the East Coast and performed in festivals throughout North America.
