Philly Improv Theater has one quick performance week before they get ready for a 16-day run during the annual Philly Fringe. In August, the theater is presenting a line-up of improv, sketch and stand-up comedy favorites and a one-night performance of Amnesia and Attempted Murder, a one-woman show that has taken New York City's comedy scene by storm. All PHIT shows take place at 407 Bainbridge Street. More information is available online at www.phillyimprovtheater.com or at 267-233-1556.
Jill Donnelly's one woman sensation, Amnesia and Attempted Murder will take stage Friday, August 7 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $10. The show, directed by Amy Flanagan, had an extended run on the stage of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. On the premise that everyone has been pushed down the stairs once or twice by a family member and fallen into a coma, and then woken up a year later with amnesia, this one-woman show explores the characters, the comedy, and the dark side of this strangely "common" story. Ten characters fill in the details for one amnesiac, Jane, in a night filled with dirty stories, creepy songs, deranged siblings, dungeons and dragons, and more.
Donnelly's show will be followed by a 10 p.m. performance from PHIT resident team Fletcher and PHIT affiliates Rare Bird Show. Tickets cost $10.
Other appearances during the week include: The Comic Vs. Audience Comedy Show, Guilty Pleasures, The Bully Pulpit, sketch comedy from High Dramma and The Action Section, and a CAGEMATCH with Activity Book and Rookie Card.

Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) is the only longform improvisation theater in the Metro Philadelphia area. Founded as a nonprofit in 2005, PHIT embraces the art of improvisation as an end rather than a means - creating and producing improv, sketch, and alternate comedy shows in the tradition of theaters like Chicago's Second City and New York's Upright Citizens Brigade. To further this philosophy, PHIT offers it's own take on the theories and concepts behind good improvisation in a full curriculum of classes for performers of all skill levels taught by local talent and through master classes with distinguished performers and teachers from all over the world (including Impro author Keith Johnstone, Joe Bill and Mark Sutton of The Second City, and former SNL writer Ali Farahnakian). In addition to performing as part of PHIT's weeklong residency at The Shubin Theatre each month, local improv troupes produced and presented by PHIT have toured extensively on the East Coast and performed in festivals throughout North America.
