Actor Bob Weick has played Karl Marx in his acclaimed production of Howard Zinn's Marx in Soho over 300 times. Now, to celebrate the 200-year anniversary of Marx's birth in 2018, Weick is launching a national and international tour of Zinn's one-man show, starting in Philadelphia during the city's annual FringeArts Festival this September 6-22, 2017 at the Ethical Society of Philadelphia (1906 Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia). The production will play in repertory with Iron Age Theatre's To My Unborn Child: A Love Letter From Fred Hampton.

"We all have a role to play in the effort to make the world a better place," said Weick. "Mine role is, in part, onstage, presenting ideas from one of the world's most profound philosophers. I hope through Marx in Soho others find a way to get involved and play their part."

The Iron Age Theatre production, directed by John Doyle, has toured across the United States since 2004 featuring Weick in the title role. The engaging one-man play explores a humane alternative to capitalism, and features Zinn's deeply profound (and often times humorous) commentary on how Marx would view contemporary political and cultural climates.

Weick is a two-time Barrymore nominee for his performances with Iron Age Theatre and Theatre Horizon. In addition to his work in Marx in Soho, Weick has been featured with the Delaware Shakespeare Festival, Curio Theatre, Philadelphia Artists Collective, and more. Marx in Soho will announce further national and international tour dates shortly, with plans to bring the work to Germany and the United Kingdom.

The work will play the Ethical Society in Philadelphia on the following dates/times:

September 6 at 6PM

September 7 at 7:30PM

September 10 at 6PM

September 14 at 5:30PM

September 16 at 3:30PM

September 17 at 8PM

September 18 at 5PM

September 22 at 8:30PM

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at ironagetheatre.org.

During the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Marx in Soho will play in repertory with To My Unborn Child: A Love Letter From Fred Hampton. Written and starring Richard Bradford, the show explores the legacy of Fred Hampton, Black Panther, founder of the Rainbow Coalition and victim of police violence. Hampton was murdered at 21 in his home by Chicago police as he lay next to his pregnant lover. Details and times can be found at ironagetheatre.org.
