Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts 2013 installs GIANT TIME MACHINE in the Kimmel Center Plaza, marking the beginning of its transformation to a destination of arts activities for the month long city-wide event.
Festival spokespeople will present updated information on activities and performances, including:
· Introduction of Flash of Time song, written exclusively for the PIFA 2013, If You Had a Time Machine theme by the composer/ lyrist team of Brian Lowdermilk and Kait Kerrigan.
· A teaser performance of Shut Your Wormhole, a comic romp into the ethics and paradoxes of time travel, created and performed by Tribe of Fools.
· Details on some unique conjunctions of art and science as PIFA organizers announce collaborations with the Franklin Institute Science Festival
Taking its shape from DNA, tornadoes, the Hadron Collider, sound waves, and an EKG, an impressively large Time Machine (100 feet long and 16 feet in diameter) will spiral across the Kimmel Center Plaza, beginning at the Broad Street entrance doors and spreading across the expanse of the Plaza.
From March 28 to April 27, The Kimmel Center will be THE place to be for a feast of ticketed events and FREE activities, including the festival's interactive centerpiece - an INTERACTIVE TIME MACHINE exhibit, sponsored by Dow Chemical, and a twice-nightly (7pm and 10:30pm) FREE "Flash of Time" theatrical show celebrating the If You Had a Time Machine....theme -- plus an abundance of family-friendly FREE performances and events with the return of the city-wide festival.
