The People's Light & Theatre Live Auction Cabaret on Friday, April 8, 2011 was Co-Chaired by Moira and Ken Mumma, and Penny and Tom Watkins. The night included live cabaret-style music from lyricist and composer Michael Ogborn, a silent and live auction, and a raffle drawing for a stay at a luxury Spanish villa. People's Light & Theatre is located at 39 Conestoga Road, Malvern, PA 19355.
"Our guests enjoyed the combination of a musical cabaret and our live auction," says Kristin Heisey, Director of Corporate Relations & Special Events. "The music added to the excitement of the evening and helped to make it such a success. We raised over $120,000 for Arts Discovery programs at People's Light. We are so grateful for the generosity of all our sponsors, committee members, donors and attendees."
During the evening, handmade glass bowls from WheatonArts that served as centerpieces were auctioned off at each table. Other items in the Live Auction included one-of-a-kind theatre experiences; trips to Provence, France; winter and summer stays in Deer Valley, Utah; a Chateau vacation in Normandy, France; and a secluded getaway to Jamaica. Very popular items included Phillies luxury box tickets and Diamond Club seats, gorgeous jewelry creations, wine lots featuring the wines of Bordeaux, and dinner for 10 prepared in the winner's home by People's Light's new Executive Chef Craig Orlando.
This season marks the 24th year of the Theatre's comprehensive education programs. Arts Discovery, formerly known as Project Discovery, opens windows onto new worlds for young people, helps them think in new ways, and supports their development academically, socially, and personally. People's Light is committed to helping ensure that young people have multiple opportunities to benefit from the arts' proven contribution to academic achievement. These programs bring young people together from very diverse communities and backgrounds for shared, meaningful experiences.

ABOUT PEOPLE'S LIGHT
People's Light, a professional, not-for-profit theatre in Chester County, Pennsylvania, makes plays drawn from many sources to entertain, inspire, and engage our community. We extend our mission of making and experiencing theatre through arts education programs that excite curiosity about, and deepen understanding of, the world around us. These plays and programs bring people together and provide opportunities for reflection, discovery, and celebration. Founded in 1974, we produce seven to nine plays each season, in two black box theatres with 350 and 170 seats respectively, mixing world premieres, contemporary plays, and fresh approaches to classic texts for our 6-Play and Discovery Series.
