People's Light, Arden, and More Win Barrymore Awards - Full List Announced!  Image

Theatre Philadelphia's Barrymore Awards were announced yesterday. The awards recognized the best Philadelphia area theater from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2018. Judges and recommenders saw 112 productions by 40 companies were eligible, of which 10 companies won awards, for 11 productions.

Among the big winners were People's Light and Arden Theatre Company, which won eight and seven awards respectively.

F. Otto Haas Award for Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist ($15,000 to recipient, $2,000 to four finalists), Taysha Marie Canales

Lifetime Achievement Award, Paul Meshejian, Artistic Director of PlayPenn.

June and Steve Wolfson Award for Evolving Theatre Company ($10,000 to the recipient, $1,000 to five finalists), Tribe of Fools

Brown Martin Philadelphia Award ($25,000 to two recipients, $2,500 to four finalists), Fun Home at Arden Theatre Company and Human Rites at InterAct Theatre Company

Victory Foundation Award for Outstanding Theatre Education Program ($10,000 to the recipient, $2,500 to five finalists), Wilma Theater's Wilmagination
