PHIT Comedy has created a series of family-friendly shows so that youth can see live, improvised comedy shows in Center City Philadelphia. The show is called "Finders Keepers." Joe Tuzzi directs the cast which includes instructors from the PHIT Comedy Kids & Teens program.
Susan LaPalombara, the Kids & Teens Coordinator, says of the classes offered "I strongly feel that improvisation is the best way for young people to tap into their theatricality. Improvisation, whether for adults or kids, builds on our innate sense of play, but the fact is that kids are far more flexible and open to the silliness required of this art form." The Kids & Teens classes are suitable for students ranging from kindergarten to high school. Finders Keepers is appropriate for those ages 10 and up.
Director Joe Tuzzi said, "The cast is amazing. These are some of the most kind and caring people I have had the opportunity to work with. Also, they are just so silly and smart that the comedy comes naturally from them."
One such actor is Kristofer Hodge who said, "My favorite part of the week is when I get to be silly on stage with Finders Keepers."
Sarah Clemency added, "I think it's going to be great for young kids to be able to watch improv especially if they are part of our PHIT Kids & Teens program."
Others in the cast include Brett Rader, Danielle Klaiman, Derrick Houck, Geoff Hartmann, Kate Fruhman, Kristen Schier, Kyle Hancock, Mary Collins, Melissa Widhson, Neil Bardhan, Nick Gillette, Rachel Semigran, Renna Wirchin, Sam Abrams, Sue Jay, and Susan LaPalombara.
Finders Keepers' first show is Saturday, February 18 at 5:00 p.m. Future shows will also be Saturdays at that time. The next session of Kids & Teens classes begins March 11.
