The Philly Improv Theater has introduced many new classes and performances for their new season. Performances begin today, September 28th, with classes beginning in October.

PHIT's performances will include HEY EVERYBODY! with Aaron Hertzog on 9/28, GUILTY PLEASURES by with comedian Brendan Kennedy, shows by new Philly sketch groups, and sketch comedy powerhouses Elephant Larry from New York City. Many additional performances are available throughout October. More information regarding performances and a full schedule are available at PHIT's website, www.phillyimprovtheater.com.

In addition, PHIT's new season will feature many new classes in both improv and sketch writing. An 8-week Level 1 improv class, "Intro to Longform", is the place to start for first time improvisers or those with experience in shortform improv. In Intro to Longform will introduce key improv skills like agreement, characterization, monologues, and object work. It will finish with instruction on the Armando performance structure.

Level 1 "Intro to Sketch Writing" offers beginning sketch writers the opportunity to watch and discuss a variety of sketches, learn about different sketch formats, and write/workshop their own material over a course of eight weeks. The class will conclude with established comedians performing a staged reading of students' favorite sketches. Level 2 "Collaborative Sketch Writing" moves beyond concepts introduced in the Level 1 Sketch Writing class and students will continue to expand their skills through close work with an instructor, workshopping with peers, and the added challenge of learning how to write collaboratively.

Asaf Ronen will return to the Philly Improv theatre for two workshops: "Getting Yourself Out of Your Own Way" on October 4th and "Interpreting the Scripted Word Through Improvisation" on October 5th. Asaf has been a staple of top-tier improv training in Philly for many years - first with the Philadelphia Improv Festival, and now in the past year with PHIT. Registration is available online.
