Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) announces that Kevin Allison of MTV's The State will be performing as part of the theater's April line-up, which runs April 6-12. Allison will be performing his one man sketch show, F*** Up. Philly Improv Theater performs at 407 Bainbridge Street. Allison will perform F*** Up at 10 p.m. on Friday, April 10 and Saturday April 11. He will also perform the show at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 12. Tickets for the performances cost $15 each and are available online at www.phillyimprovtheater.com or at 267-233-1556.

Allison's show on Friday and Saturday night follows an 8 p.m. performance of improv and sketch from The Action Section and Rare Bird Show. Tickets for this show cost $10. PHIT Affiliate, The Action Section is a four-man sketch comedy group. Rare Bird Show, a PHIT Affiliate, has performed long form improv all over the country. They have appeared at Philly Fringe Festival, DC Comedyfest, Baltimore Improv Festival, Philadelphia Improv Festival, Dirty South Improv Festival, Toronto International Improv Festival, People's Improv Theater and Magnet Theater, and the Del Close Marathon at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. This Spring, they are appearing at the highly selective Chicago Improv Festival.

F*** Up is Allison's one man show of outrageous character sketches. Hilarious, touching and always surprising, the show is a date with passionate dreamers and lovable daredevils who work their hearts out, only to land in the dirt. The characters include: Ron, a closeted Southern aerobics instructor; Ira, a 90-year-old Jewish comedian who botched his career in vaudeville; Fleming, an alcoholic thespian; and others.

Allison was a performer and writer with MTV's 90's cult hit, The State. He regularly appears as a pundit on VH1's Best Week Ever. Recent film and TV appearances include Reno 911!: Miami, The Ten, The Next Girl I See and HBO's Flight of the Conchords. He currently teaches Sketch Comedy at the Peoples Improv Theater in New York City, where he also leads the favorite sketch group Big Flux. His writing has appeared in The Village Voice, Giant, Premiere and Film Journal International. He also teaches film classes at New York University.

Allison is also leading a two separate workshops on Writing Sketch Comedy. The first - for beginners - is on April 11th and a master class is on April 12th. Each workshops costs $50 for early registration and $75 less than one week before the workshop date.

About Philly Improv Theater

Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) is the only longform improvisation theater in the Metro Philadelphia area. Founded as a nonprofit in 2005, PHIT embraces the art of improvisation as an end rather than a means - creating and producing improv, sketch, and alternate comedy shows in the tradition of theaters like Chicago's Second City and New York's Upright Citizens Brigade. To further this philosophy, PHIT offers it's own take on the theories and concepts behind good improvisation in a full curriculum of classes for performers of all skill levels taught by local talent and through master classes with distinguished performers and teachers from all over the world (including Impro author Keith Johnstone, Joe Bill and Mark Sutton of The Second City, and former SNL writer Ali Farahnakian). In addition to performing as part of PHIT's weeklong residency at The Shubin Theatre each month, local improv troupes produced and presented by PHIT have toured extensively on the East Coast and performed in festivals throughout North America.
