The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater is gearing up to end its Centennial season with a bang - a big production that's a perennial favorite. The Club has been hinting at it all season, and now they can finally announce that they have the rights to Rogers and Hammerstein's South Pacific - for performance in April and May.
Director Paul Kerrigan of Phoenixville has joined forces with Assistant Director Brian Walsh of Drexel Hill and Choreographer Emma Bradley of Philadelphia to head the production. They are seeking Singer/Dancer/Actors of all ages to fill the cast roster. Auditions will be held on November 29th, with callbacks on December 6th.
Alan Stamford of Swarthmore has a history with the show at PCS. He worked on the club's production 40 years ago and has agreed to help out with this one as well - taking on the task of designing the lights.
The Players Club has an extra reason to be appreciating such historical treasures this year - it's their 100th season. To celebrate, the organization will be hosting a gala event right in the middle of the South Pacific run. For this special occasion, there will even be a break in the run of the show, so that those involved in the production can attend. It's sure to be a joyous evening, appropriate for such a momentous occasion.
