The magic of the timeless classic Cinderella is coming to Swarthmore!

A tale of destiny and enchantment, this original twist on the story you have grown to love, is developed with the help of the audience.

Recommended for children age 3 and up, this version of Cinderella, adapted by Charlotte B. Chorpenning, is a bewitching dramatization of the ageless story made pictorially beautiful by the introduction of lively dancing and music. Cinderella sees beautiful things in her daydreams and tries to live her little starved life in a way to deserve them. Her stepmother and stepsisters try to prevent her from attending the prince's ball in any way possible. Luckily, the fairy godmother appears to save the day. Cinderella captivates the prince, stays too long at the ball, loses her slipper, but eventually all's well that ends well.

This interactive play for children, the fifth in this fifth season of the Players Club of Swarthmore Children's Theatre series, is scheduled to run eight performances: two shows each on Saturdays June 13 and June 20 and Sundays June 14 and June 21. Show times are at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and all performances are on the Players Club's Raymond W. Smith Stage on the second floor.

Directed by Jim Carroll of Drexel Hill, it features several local actors: Emily Fishman of Wallingford (Cinderella); Donna Kelly Romero of Drexel Hill (First Stepsister), Annaliese Gove of Wallingford (Second Stepsister); Cathy Baum of Swarthmore (Wicked Stepmother); Adam Corbett of Westmont, N.J. (Prince); Jack Maher of Springfield (Roland); Cathy Gibbons Mostek of Drexel Hill (Fairy Godmother); Randino Del Rosario of Springfield (Galafron); David E. Griffith of Drexel Hill (Curdkin); Charmaine Blackman of Woodlyn (Felicia), Sallyanne Donovan of Blue Bell (Queen) and Shane McBride of Springfield (Page).
