Registration has begun for the Open Stage of Harrisburg Studio/School "Acting for the Camera" class for students ages 16 through adult March 22 through May 10. Classes are held in street level of the Walnut Street Parking Garage.
Taught by actor/producer Johntrae Williams, the class allows the actor to explore a complete process in analysis, thought, behavior, action, truth and emotional commitment as it relates to acting on film.
Actors will learn the elements of filmmaking and how actor's performance for the camera varies from the stage. Through the use of monologues and scenes, students move closer to understanding the environment of the film set. Scripts from well-known films will introduce students to the technique for preparation and performance on camera.
Exercises include focus, working in the moment, understanding how to work with camera shots, editing and energy management, discipline and stamina needed on any set, and audition techniques. All work will be recorded, viewed, and critiqued.
This class is a must for anyone who is considering a professional career, as well as those who are looking to enhance the educational portion of their acting resume.
The class will be held Mondays, March 22nd through May 10, 2010 from 6:30-8:30 PM. Enrollment is limited. Tuition is $200, with an "Early Bird" discount of $180 if payment is made in full by May 13.
