Open Stage of Harrisburg is holding an open casting call for its annual production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL on Sunday, September 26 starting at 2 pm and Tuesday, September 28 starting at 6 pm. Callback Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, October 2 at 2 pm. All auditions will be held at Open Stage, located on the street level of the Walnut Street Parking Garage in downtown Harrisburg. Rehearsals begin October 13. Performances, held at the Sunoco Performance Theatre at Whitaker Center in downtown Harrisburg, are scheduled for December 2, 3, 4, and 5. Daytime availability is necessary beginning November 29. A stipend will be paid.
The theatre is seeking fifteen adults of all ages and eight children, ages 7 to 16, including a small boy to play Tiny Tim. A violinist is sought to play the non-speaking role of The Fiddler. Some roles require singing. Adult actors should prepare a one-minute memorized Dickensian monologue and be prepared to read from the script. Child actors should write a short paragraph on why they want to appear in A CHRISTMAS CAROL and prepare a short memorized monologue from their favorite play or story. Actors who sing should bring a CD or be prepared to sing a cappella. The role of Ebenezer Scrooge has already been cast. The production will be directed by Open Stage of Harrisburg Education Director Anne Alsedek.
