Philadelphia rock band Milton and the Devils Party (www.miltondevilsparty.com) will perform 5 nights in front of The Wilma Theater on Broad Street to celebrate the Wilma’s Philadelphia Premiere of Tom Stoppard’s 2008 Tony® nominee for Best Play, Rock ’n’ Roll. The band will play classic rock songs from the 60s and 70s, including music from The Beatles, John Lennon, Cream, The Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Kinks, The Plastic People of the Universe, The Mothers of Invention, and The Beach Boys.
Fronted by two English professors Daniel Robinson (singer, songwriter, bassist) and Mark Graybill (guitar) who blend their literary interests and passion for rock ’n’ roll, Milton and the Devils Party are a perfect fit at the Wilma. The Philadelphia-area trio has been supporting their sophomore release of original material titled How Wicked We’ve Become, out on independent label Transit of Venus with national distribution through RedEye, and produced by Brian McTear (Matt Pond PA, B.C. Camplight, Espers, Mazarin and The A-Sides).Paste writer Andrew Whitman says this new album has “deep undercurrents of longing and yearning in the lyrics, cleverly disguised by the bright, uptempo music. The themes are universally relevant” but also have “enough heartfelt angst to keep even the most introspective, morose English major happy. Or at least as happy as introspective morose English majors ever get.”Videos
