On Saturday November 17 from 2-4pm The Media Theatre will hold a Talk-To-The-Animals-Day with Dr. Dolittle. Anyone who brings their pet to the theatre during this meet and greet occasion will receive a $5 gift voucher for an upcoming production and have plenty of photo opportunities.

The Delaware County SPCA will be onsite as well, with a few friendly cats and dogs that need to be adopted into loving homes.

Dr. Dolittle is the Broadway musical based on the Hugh Lofting stories and the classic 1967 film in which the eccentric but kind veterinarian learns, with the assistance of his parrot, to talk to the animals. This ability to communicate with the animal kingdom takes him on a wild adventure from the town of England’s Puddleby-On-The-Marsh around the world in search of the Great Sea Snail. Songs include “Talk to the Animals” and “I’ve Never Seen Anything Like It!” Bill Vargus, Philadelphia sportscaster and actor, portrays the good doctor November 20-January 27.

Jesse Cline, the theatre’s Artistic Director, is looking forward to the Talk-To-The-Animals-Day on November 17. “Here at Media Theatre we understand the ability of animals to express themselves sometimes in ways that we still do not quite understand,” he said. “We have a great respect for them, as Dr. Dolittle does in the musical.”

Dr. Dolittle will actually talk to the animals that bring their owners and caretakers with them to the theatre on November 17. “Animals are most likely intrigued by our ability of speech, just as we are by their unique communication skills,” Cline continued. “This promises to be a fun afternoon leading us into the first professional production of the musical for the region which starts Thanksgiving week.”

Participants in the Talk-To-The-Animals Day on Saturday November 17 will receive a $5 Media Theatre gift voucher which may be used as a stocking stuffer for the holidays for any upcoming production at Delaware County’s only professional music theatre. The vouchers may also be used during the meet and greet occasion for tickets to Dr. Dolittle. For tickets to the show, or information, call The Media Theatre at 610-891-0100 or visit mediatheatre.org

All Broadway Series productions at The Media Theatre feature a live orchestra conducted by resident music director Tom Fosnocht.
