About the Artists:
Marilyn Maye is a singer, actress, director, arranger, educator, and a Grammy-nominated recording artist. The award-winning Ms. Maye appeared 76 times on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" - the record for a singer. Perhaps the simplest Marilyn Maye accolade came after one of her show-stopping appearances on The Tonight Show when turning to his audience of millions, Johnny Carson said, "And that, young singers, is the way it's done." And, the praise continues. In the New York Observer, Rex Reed wrote recently, "Her show is not to be missed. ... It's a master class in singing conducted by a polished pro who majored in unforgettable."
With more than 100 engagements in the last nine years in New York include, Ms. Maye has sold-out multiple-nights at the Metropolitan Room, Birdland, five two-week runs at Feinstein's at The Loews Regency Hotel, New York's Town Hall, the 92nd Street Y Theater. She presented Marilyn Maye, "Her Way", A Salute to Sinatra - her fifth appearance at 54 Below, April, 2015 - an 8-day engagement was received by standing-room-only audiences.
Marilyn Maye's place in American music history was assured when the Arts Council of the Smithsonian Institution selected one of her recordings, "Too Late Now" for the Smithsonian-produced album of the 110 Best American Compositions of the Twentieth Century. Her many symphony concert appearances around the United States, include the Florida Symphony, The Philly Pops, The Phoenix Symphony, The Kansas City Symphony, The Omaha Symphony, and in June, 2015, The Pasadena Symphony, Michael Feinstein conducting. Her two appearances with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall for tributes to Stephen Sondheim and Frank Loesser. These two performances received show-stopping applause and rave reviews.
Kathy Graham is a triple threat with a four-octave range who has channeled her passion for performing into a 30 year career that includes recordings, club dates, concerts, theatre, radio and education. As a vocalist, audiences across the country have been delighted by her innovative renditions of some of the world's most beautiful music. Today she can be seen in her one-woman show - Kathy Sings-The Great American Songbook as well as sold out performances of her hit show "Celebrating Patsy Cline -a Heartfelt Tribute to a Country Music Legend" throughout the tri-state area. Her most recent recording "For Good" featured Carolyn Kearney on the "Song a Month Project" is available on CD Baby and iTunes.
Deirdre Finnegan, a Montgomery County resident, has been singing, dancing, acting, choreographing, directing and teaching in the Philadelphia region for over 20 years. As a director/choreographer, she has worked at The Arden Theatre, Theatre Horizon, Hedgerow Theater, University of the Arts, Radio City Music Hall, St Joe's, Upper Darby Summer Stage, and Cheltenham High School, to name a few. She has worked on many industrials and special events including Ed Rendell's second inaugural celebration. As an actor, she is a member of Actor's Equity Association and most recently appeared at The Prince Music Theater in The Three Maries, a world premiere musical by Michael Ogborn. She has performed with Theater Horizon, Mazeppa Productions, Storybook Musical Theatre, and many others.
Paula Johns, a regular at Dino's Backstage, is an accomplished cabaret singer and jazz vocalist who hails from Philadelphia. She has several recordings and has sung with such noted pianists as George Mesterhazy, Dean Schneider, Tom Adams and many others. Often compared to Ella and some of the great contemporaries of that era, she has performed in clubs and festivals throughout the region. Her signature smile and warm, infectious laughter makes her a standout whenever she performs.
Bob Egan has continued to appear throughout PA, NJ and New York for the past 30 years. He is an accomplished accompanist and musical director for vocalists. Bob is best known for his singers open-mic nights, which he holds weekly at Bowman's Tavern in New Hope PA and regularly at The Claridge Hotel (Atlantic City NJ), The Clinton House (Clinton NJ) and in Asbury Park NJ at Moonstruck, The Asbury (Hotel) and Tim McLoone's Asbury Grille. He also can be seen at the piano at The Nassau Club (Princeton, NJ), and The Bernards Inn (Bernardsville, NJ). Bob was the creator of the famous piano bar at Odette's, which ran for 21 years and was the winner of the "Best of Philly" Award for the "Best Piano Bar." His repertoire includes thousands of songs from The Great American Songbook, Broadway and Standards -- straight through to the current Pop Hits of today.
Michael Richard Kelly, music director and co-owner of Dino's Backstage, has been a professional singer for over 30 years. He did his first cabaret show at Odette's in New Hope, Pennsylvania in 1987, and he found that it was the perfect medium for him. In 1995, Michael, won "Philadelphia Magazine's - Best of Philly® - Cabaret Act-1995" after performing for over a year at "The Club Above", in Philadelphia. He was asked to do his first cabaret in New York at Danny's Skylight Room in 2003. The show was called, "I Sing For My Father", an homage to the memory of his father, Leon E. Kelly, who was a singer, radio and television broadcaster, and news anchor.
