Longtime People's Light Company Members Reunite for MORNING'S AT SEVEN

A stellar ensemble of People's Light veterans, including some of the most celebrated actors in Philadelphia, brings to life Paul Osborn's classic American comedy, Morning's at Seven. In a small, Midwestern town, four close-knit sisters and their husbands confront long-held secrets and simmering tensions that threaten to upend the status quo. Artistic Director Abigail Adams directs this charming tribute to family dysfunction in which "the relationships are ultimately as universal as the humor" (Los Angeles Times). Morning's at Seven plays on the Steinbright Stage in Malvern from January 10 through February 4, 2018.

"We've been waiting years to do this play and now its time has come!" says director Adams. "The cast of Morning's at Seven comprises nine actors, all of whom have deep connections to People's Light. They've played each other's wives, husbands, parents, brothers, sisters, in-laws, children, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and enemies over decades. After working together so many times they know how each other thinks. And in each other's company, they become vulnerable, brave, and often hilarious.

"These connections shape this production," Adams says. "Morning's at Seven tells the story of an aging, tightly-knit family whose members struggle with roads not taken and their complicated love for one another. Given our long histories, it's pretty close to the bone for those of us working on it."

Four actresses play the sisters at the heart of the story. Carla Belver is Esther Crampton, Alda Cortese plays Ida Bolton, Janis Dardaris appears as Aaronetta Gibbs, and Marcia Saunders is Cora Swanson. Three actors play their husbands. Peter DeLaurier is Theodore Swanson, Stephen Novelli plays Carl Bolton, and Graham Smith is David Crampton. In addition, Pete Pryor plays son Homer Bolton, and Teri Lamm appears as his fiancée, Myrtle Brown.

Luke Cantarella (Auctioning the Ainsleys, Row After Row) returns to design the set. Company member Dennis Parichy (Project Dawn, Auctioning the Ainsleys) designs lights, and resident artist Marla J. Jurglanis (Moon Over Buffalo, The Matchmaker) creates costumes. Frequent guest Christopher Colucci (Moon Over Buffalo, Stella and Lou) serves as Sound Designer, long-time collaborator Deborah Teller stage manages, and Gina Pisasale dramaturgs.

Morning's at Seven previews begin on Wednesday, January 10 at 7:30pm and run through Friday, January 12. The play opens on Saturday, January 13 at 8pm and runs through Sunday, February 4.
