John Cleese has done it. Bob Costas has done it. Oprah has not-yet, though she may want to. Now local celebrities and personalities are going to do it. And they will henceforth and forevermore be known as The Voice of God. At least in Delaware County, where Monty Python's "Spamalot" is at The Media Theatre September 25 - November 3, 2013.

The musical based on the classic film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" has a section in which The Voice of God is heard, extolling mighty words to The Knights which has a lot to do with their journey.

As George Burns is no longer with us to add his Godly voice to the proceedings, The Media Theatre has connected with several larger-than-life personalities to portray The Voice of God on various dates throughout the musical's run. Patrons will hear their unique, recognizable and all-powerful voices and be invited to mingle with them during intermission and after the show.

It all begins with Big Daddy Graham of WIP Sportsradio on the show's opening weekend Friday September 27. On that evening, a reception will follow the performance in the theatre's Crystal Room in which patrons and fans may mingle with the cast and meet Big Daddy Graham.

Bill Vargus, sportscaster and actor, will be The Voice of God on Wednesday and Thursday night October 2 and 3. His charming wife, Sue Serio of FOX-TV, is choosing dates to be announced.

Jeffry Cadorette of The Rotary Club of Media and Media Real Estate Company will set the Knights on their way Friday and Saturdaynight October 4 and 5, as well as Sunday afternoon's matinee on October 6.

On Wednesday and Thursday October 9 and 10, Liza Minnelli and Joan Rivers will lend their talents. Well, not exactly...They will be there in the form of Las Vegas Showgirl Mr. Gio Michaels, who is the star of the award-winning show "Bro-lesque!" They are just two of the ladies Gio has up his...uhm...sleeve when he performs regularly at Picasso on State Street.

During the Delaware County Police Memorial Fundraiser at "Spamalot" on Saturday night October 12, one of Delco's finest will handle The Voice. Henry O' Neill, whose son Sean has been in several productions, is all powerful during the benefit.

Delaware County Daily Times' Editor Phil Heron, recently heard at The Media Theatre narrating "Death on the 16th Fairway", returns to get involved with "Spamalot" on Friday and Saturday October 18 and 19.

Perhaps one of the Philadelphia's most recognizable voices will add her unique verbal skills to the proceedings on Wednesday andThursday night October 16 and 17 and again the following week October 23 and 24. It's Grammy Winner Debbi Calton, and who has not heard her voice on WMGK Classic Rock Radio as she tells us things we did not know about everyone from The Beatles to Pat Benatar? This is one Voice of God who will know more about rock and roll than any of us here on Earth.

Not to be outdone, 97.5 gets in on the action when Jon Marks steps into the action on Saturday night October 26. He'll represent Philadelphia's first FM Sports Station and hope that the Eagles can find their Holy Grail sometime soon.

The Media Theatre has the first professional regional production of Monty Python's "Spamalot" September 25-November 3 and more special God Voices will be lined up soon. The musical pokes fun at Las Vegas Glitz, Broadway, pop music, and everything in between while killer rabbits and Fisch Shlapping keep audiences giggling. It's all about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table searching for the Holy Grail and meeting up with eccentric characters like The Lady of The Lake, played in Media's production by Tony nominee Ann Crumb.

For tickets to The Media Theatre's "Spamalot" call 610-891-0100 or visit mediatheatre.org. All Broadway Series productions are produced by The Media Music Theatre Company with Artistic Director Jesse Cline. It is the winner of Broadway World's 2012 "Best Theatre Company of Philadelphia" honor.
