Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood: King For A Day!

January 5 & 6 • Merriam Theater

The grr-ific musical for little tigers and grown-ups alike is back with an all-new show coming to the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus! The hugely popular Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood LIVE, based on the #1 PBS KIDS TV series, has delighted live audiences on stages across the country. Now, in its third year of touring, your favorite characters are hopping back on board Trolley and coming to Philadelphia with Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood LIVE: King For A Day! at the Merriam Theater, Friday, January 5, 2018 and Saturday, January 6, 2018.

Les Misérables

January 9 - 21 • Academy of Music

For the first time since 2013, Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables, will return to Philadelphia for a two-week engagement, January 9-21 at the Academy of Music on the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus.

Paula Poundstone

January 11 • Merriam Theater

Fresh off the release of her hilarious new book, The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness, comedic genius Paula Poundstone comes to the Merriam Theater on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. Known for her razor sharp spontaneous wit and smart, observational humor, this convivial show will give audience members something to laugh about for months to come.

Juan de Marcos and the Afro-Cuban All Stars

January 12 • Merriam Theater

The Afro-Cuban All Stars, led by Juan de Marcos, will bring the sounds of Cuba to the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus' Merriam Theater on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. Featuring an array of musical genres, the Afro-Cuban All Stars will take audiences on a journey through Cuba's rich musical history.

Sam Harris

January 14 • Merriam Theater

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, in association with Live Nation, welcomes neuroscientist, philosopher, and five-time New York Times best-selling author Sam Harris to the Merriam Theater on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. Harris will discuss topical and thought-provoking subjects during a live recording of his 2017 Webby Award-winning podcast Waking Up.

The Second City: Look Both Ways Before Talking

January 19 - 20 • Merriam Theater

Edgy, thought-provoking and always spectacularly funny, The Second City improv troupe returns to the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater for performances on Friday, January 19, 2018 and Saturday, January 20, 2018. It's been known for nearly six decades for producing cutting-edge satirical revues and launching the careers of generation after generation of comedy's best and brightest. The Second City alumni include Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, and more. Their new show, Look Both Ways Before Talking, will feature The Second City's signature improv comedy, audience interaction, and original of-the-moment sketches and songs.

The Johnny Shortcake Show

January 27 & 28 • SEI Innovation Studio

Philadelphia's premier soul crooner David Sweeny will take audiences on a magical, musical journey during The Johnny Shortcake Show in the SEI Innovation Studio on Saturday, January 27, 2018 and Sunday, January 28, 2018. This family-friendly performance is a funky dance party, featuring unforgettable songs for young and old alike, with original music by David Sweeny, Michael Baker, and Ross Bellenoit, with direction by Brad Wrenn. The Johnny Shortcake Show is a designated BYO performance.

Jerry Blavat: Disco, Soul, and Doo-wop

January 27 • Verizon Hall

Philadelphia's favorite radio DJ, Jerry Blavat, is back for his annual star-studded performance in Verizon Hall, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. entitled Disco, Soul, and Doo Wop. The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts partners with Blavat every season for an exciting variety show featuring special guests and beloved tunes. As per tradition for his appearances at the Kimmel Center, attendees are invited to the Commonwealth Plaza for cocktails and dancing before and after the performance. Tango Fire

January 31 • Merriam Theater

Aires, will return to the Merriam Theater in Tango Fire on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. A global phenomenon and the world's leading tango company, Tango Fire has perfected the dynamic art of the tango, creating superb performances that sizzle with sensuality and unforgettable music. This exhilarating show combines the rawness and sophistication with the seductive and sultry side of tango and evokes the intoxicating passion of late night Buenos Aires.
