Finalists of the first year of the Knight Arts Challenge Philadelphia will be announced at KnightArts.org on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.

The challenge, a project of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to fund the best ideas for the Philadelphia arts, is offering $9 million in funding over three years.

Building on the momentum of the city's arts scene, the contest seeks out innovative projects to inspire and enrich Philadelphia's communities by asking one simple question: What's your best idea for the arts in Philadelphia?

The contest was open to anyone, including arts organizations, businesses, artists and individuals, with submissions accepted online last fall. Philadelphians set a record for number of submissions in a single year for the challenge with over 1,700 ideas.
