JERSEY BOYS Movie to Hold Open Calls in Philadelphia and NYC This Month

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, JERSEY BOYS film director Jon Favreau revealed via Twitter that there would be open casting calls for the adaptation.

The movie has set up a website revealing that the open calls will take place August 18 in Philadephia (at the Kimmel Center), and August 25 in New York (at Ailey Studios).  Actors are needed to fill the lead roles of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi.

Tapes are also being accepted online.

In addition to directing the IRON MAN movies, Favreau has appeared as an actor in John Carter, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS and more. He recently produced THE AVENGERS for Disney.

JERSEY BOYS is the winner of the 2006 Best Musical Tony Award, the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album and the 2009 Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Directed on Broadway by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, JERSEY BOYS is written by Academy Award-winner Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.

JERSEY BOYS is a journey of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide - all before they were thirty.

Filming is slated to begin in New York in January 2013. A release date on the film is tentatively set for 2014.
