PHIT Comedy has created a new series that starts March 3rd, "Thank You, Places." Each show is an hourlong, Broadway-style musical that is entirely made up on the spot, created from a single audience suggestion. With a delightful twist on classic musical theatre storytelling and stylings reminiscent of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Steven Sondheim, Thank You, Places captivates your imagination and leaves you wanting more. Led by Director Dave Sucharski and Music Director Kevin Mucchetti, the Thank You, Places cast brings with them experience on Broadway National Tour, New York, Philadelphia, and Regional theatre stages, many years of improv comedy experience, and over 10,000 hours singing in the shower.
Director Dave Sucharski says, "Creating this show has been a truly collaborative experience, with everyone bringing their own unique skills, experience, and ideas. We are blessed with a brilliant Music Director in Kevin Mucchetti, who has a natural ability to create soaring musical themes while seamlessly accompanying eight improvised voices."
Performer Felicia Ricci commented on her experiences with the cast as well: "The feeling of being onstage with this group is all adrenaline and joy. Coming from a background of 'traditional' musicals, and performing for months in the tour of Wicked, I'm thrilled by how well our cast's eclectic performance styles work together. A musical is always exciting to be a part of -- but the added element of pure spontaneity is unlike anything I've ever experienced."
The full cast is: Alanna Shaffer, Angelina Meehan, Claire Halberstadt, Felicia Ricci, Rob Alesiani, Scott Hinners, Steven Holland, and Sue Taney. "Thank You, Places" occurs at 7:30 pm every first and third Friday of the month at PHIT. Tickets are $12 and are general admission. Advance tickets for PHIT Comedy shows are available - with no fees! - through the theater's website or directly through Ticketleap.
PHIT is located at 2030 Sansom Street and hosts performances on both the Mainstage (former home of InterAct Theatre Company) and the newly renovated Second Stage.
