Director Diane Shaffer is seeking one woman, one girl and six men for Wait Until Dark, a meticulously paced, "first rate shocker" as described by the New York Post.
Auditions will be held at the theatre on Sunday, August 16, 2009 and Monday, August 17, 2009 at 7:00 pm both nights. Callbacks are Tuesday, August 18 at 7:00 pm.
The theatre is located on the campus of Country Meadows in Hershey at 830 Cherry Drive (near the corner of Sand Hill Road). Auditioners are asked to arrive a few minutes early to register and should bring a completed audition form (available for download from HersheyAreaPlayhouse.com), recent photo/headshot and a theatrical resume (if available). Additional audition forms will be available at the theatre, if necessary. Auditioners will be asked to read from the script. Monologues are welcome, but not required.
Available roles are as follows:
Suzy Experiences a wide range of emotions from vulnerability to terror. Must be convincing as a blind person. Age around 30.
Sam Suzy's husband. A photographer.
Gloria Nine years old. Upstairs neighbor. Can be bratty, but also can be sweet.
Harry Roat Menacing and sadistic, controlled.
Mike A smooth con man.
Carlino A career petty criminal.
Cops Two cops, walk-on parts
The production will run from October 22 - November 1, 2009 at Hershey Area Playhouse at Country Meadows, located on Sand Hill Road at Cherry Drive in Hershey, PA. Performances will be held Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 pm with Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $15 each for teens/adults and $13 for children 12 and under (service charges apply) and are available at HersheyAreaPlayhouse.com.
