Hedgerow Theatre continues its fall tradition of staging a mystery play with DIAL M FOR MURDER, Sept. 24-Nov. 1. Although Hedgerow has staged a mystery play each fall for many years, this is the first time DIAL M FOR MURDER has been performed at the 86-year old Rose VAlley Theatre.
Jared Reed, who directed the theatre's hit summer farce, ONE FOR THE POT, returns to Hedgerow to directs a cast which features Sara Painter as Margot Wendice,
Carl Smith as Max Halliday, Jim McCabe as Tony Wendice Steven Carpenter as Captain Lesgate, Zoran Kovcic as Inspector Hubbard and Shaun Hart as Thompson.
DIAL M FOR MURDER was written by
Frederick Knott, who did not write many plays, but still is one of the most-produced playwrights of the last 50 years for having penned two major thrillers: DIAL M FOR MURDER and WAIT UNTIL DARK. Both plays inspired famous film versions.
Alfred Hitchcock directed Dial M for Murder (with a screenplay by Mr. Knott) starring
Grace Kelly in 1954, and
Audrey Hepburn starred as a blind woman terrorized by thugs in the 1967 movie of Wait Until Dark.
