Actress Micki Sharpe is getting into the habit, both literally and figuratively, of performing each December at Hedgerow Theatre in a musical comedy from Dan Goggin's Nunsense series. She appeared as the Mother Superior in the original, Nunsense, in 2009 and in Nuncrackers in 2010. This year, she's returning to a character she first played in 1986 in Sister Robert Anne's Cabaret Class, which opens on December 29 and runs through January 15.

In this one-woman show, the streetwise, Brooklyn-born Sister Robert Anne performs songs from the other musicals while teaching her students--the audience--how to put on a cabaret. "It has the delightful humor Goggin's known for, and there's lot of audience participation as they get to sing along," Sharpe explained. "We'll be giving out prizes and brave enough people can actually come up on stage."

"I've done three of the roles in the series, but Sister Robert Anne is dear to my heart," Sharpe added. "I played her for four years at the Society Hill Playhouse in Philadelphia in the Second Company of Nunsense, earning my Actors Equity card, and then toured regionally in the part in a production with Edie Adams."

Fans of Goggin's work will be pleased to learn that plans are already being made for next year's show. "The shows are fun and people really seem to enjoy them," Sharpe said. "There are six more titles, so we're trying to decide which to put on in 2012."

Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on December 29 to 31, January 6 and 7, and January 12 to 14; and at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, and Sundays, January 8 and 15. The New Year's Eve show on December 31 includes a champagne intermission. All tickets for that evening are $35.

Adult ticket prices for Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows are $29, Thursday shows are $25, and Wednesday matinees are $22. There is a $3 discount for seniors; tickets for students with valid ID and children under 18 are $10. For groups of 10 or more, tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for seniors. Prices include all fees and borough taxes. Also available is a special Flex-Six package of six mix-and-match tickets to any show for $135 for adults or $115 for seniors.
