Gamut Theatre Group's Harrisburg Shakespeare Company will bring their 2014-2015 Educational Outreach Show, Hamlet to the main stage February 27-March 8, 2015. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $12. This 80-minute performance has been adapted for students and is appropriate for middle school students through adults. It is a great performance for Shakespeare novices and experts alike. Following each performance there will be a "talk-back" session in which audience members can ask the Director and actors questions about their performance choices.
Hamlet asks, "What piece of work is a man?" in one of the most powerful and influential tragedies in the English language. Gamut Theatre's brand new interpretation deals with the most compelling of the plays themes: philosophy, revenge, morality, psychosis, and suicide through the eye of the adolescent. A modern version of this age old play is sure to intrigue and challenge anyone with the question, "To be, or not to be?"
This version of the play has been shortened, and is extremely accessible, employing Gamut's unique educational outreach style of combining Shakespeare's original text with modern "narrations" to bridge the most famous scenes from the play together into an easy-to-understand story.
Hamlet is also available on tour and in-house through June 2015 for group and student matinee performances. For ticket reservations and more information about Educational Outreach Shows, please contact
