Gretna Theatre Seeks Actor for "Mame", Opens 7/6

Still seeking one non-union actor for the role of M. Lindsey Woolsey in the classic musical comedy "Mame" being produced this summer by Gretna Theatre at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse, Mt. Gretna, PA. Gretna Theatre is a professional summer stock company employing Broadway leading actors and nationally known directors and choreographers. All positions are paid weekly. Other than our New York City dance call for very specific dancer/singers (see prior notice and/or the website at www.gretnatheatre.com), all other roles are cast.

Character description: M. Lindsey Woolsey - Able to play 35 - 50 years old. Must be at least 6' tall, Attractive leading man-type. Excellent actor/singer to portray successful publisher and Mame's on-again, off- again gentleman friend. Baritenor (may understudy the leading role of Beau). Must be non-union and heavy preference will be given to actor with local housing. Must be available for all daytime rehearsals and matinee and evening performances beginning July 6 through July 31, 2010. Two weeks of rehearsal Tuesdays through Sundays, five performances per week for two weeks, Thursday through Sunday first week, Thursday through Saturday final week.

Gretna Theatre's summer season in June and July includes Sally Struthers in "Nunsense," the regional premiere of "The Marvelous Wonderettes," "The Will Rogers Follies," "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," "Peter Pan," "Mr. Hobbs' Vacation," and "Mame" as well as the fourth annual Gretna Gala Idol Scholarship Competition for youngsters 10 - 16 years of age in June, and the Theatre for Young Audiences Series for children and their families on Saturday mornings in July.
