The American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) is pleased to announce Gettysburg, Pennsylvania as the site of the national theatre festival AACTFest 2019 June 16 - 22. Twelve community theatre productions from across the United States and the U.S. Military Overseas will be featured. Winners of state and regional festivals will represent the best community theatre America has to offer.

AACTFest, a program of AACT, is a theatre festival process that culminates in a national theatre festival held in odd-numbered years. AACTFest is a celebration of theatre and presents a forum for community theatres from AACT's 10 regions to enter productions for adjudication and advancement from the state level to the regional level and finally, to the national festival. AACTFest provides learning experiences, stimulates excellence in theatrical productions, and develops enlightened and discerning audiences for Live Theatre.

National festivals include a national youth festival, a theatre management conference, educational workshops, top vendor displays, social events, sightseeing and networking opportunities, and close with a magnificent festival awards presentation. The Gettysburg Hotel will be the center of many of these events, and the festival will include other Gettysburg venues. Destination Gettysburg, the Gettysburg Foundation, and Gettysburg Community Theatre are assisting AACT in preparations for AACTFest 2019, and will be welcoming theatre enthusiasts to their historic town for this momentous event.

AACTFest 2019 performances will take place in the beautifully restored Gettysburg College's Majestic Theatre at the Jennifer and David LeVan Performing Arts Center. The Majestic Theatre is located at 25 Carlisle Street in downtown Gettysburg. Opening in 1925 as the largest vaudeville and silent movie theatre in south-central Pennsylvania and as an annex to the historic Gettysburg Hotel, the Majestic has a rich history.

AACTFest is an exciting process, involving community theatres in every corner of the country. Plan to join this invigorating theatre event. Mark your calendar and make your plans to attend this great celebration of American community theatre!

AACTFest 2017's national community theatre festival will be held June 25 - July 1, 2017 in Rochester, Minnesota, and excitement is building as state festivals have commenced. The Mayo Civic Center will hold workshops and meetings, and performances will be in the Rochester Civic Theatre, also located in the Civic Center complex. There will be approximately 40 state festivals with more than 200 theatre productions, followed by nearly 60 theatre companies performing in regional festivals on the way to the national festival. The public is invited to attend the festivals. For more information, visit aact.org/aactfest2017.

AACT helps theatres thrive and provides networking, resources, and support for America's theatres. AACT represents the interests of more than 7,000 theatres across the United States and its territories, as well as theatre companies with the U.S. Armed Services overseas.
