Due to popular demand, the Arden Theatre Company announces a one-week extension of the musical GYPSY by Arthur Laurents, with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The show, originally scheduled to close on Sunday, June 18, will now close Sunday, June 25, 2017.
Arden Theatre's Managing Director, Amy Murphy says, "We have already seen a great deal of demand for GYPSY, and we expect for demand to increase. We want as many people as possible to see and enjoy this production and Mary Martello's performance as Mama Rose, and are therefore adding eight additional performances."
Set in the fading days of the vaudeville circuit, GYPSY features a legendary score that includes "Let Me Entertain You," "Together, Wherever We Go," and "Everything's Coming Up Roses." Mary Martello, one of Philadelphia's greatest actresses and a five time Barrymore Award winner, will light up the Arden stage as she tackles the iconic role of the indomitable Mama Rose.
