A local company is set to stage a World Premiere musical about a challenge faced by every human being - living in our bodies. This new musical, In My Body, features lyrics by Michael Biello and music by Dan Martin with a book by Lis Kalogris, Kate Cipriano, and Melissa Hays. Through song and spoken word, movement and photography, In My Body reveals true-life physical and emotional body stories and challenges us to embrace who we are and open our hearts to others.

In My Body runs November 9-13 at Prince Theater, 1412 Chestnut Street. Press members are invited to see the show beginning on Wednesday, November 9 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available August 15at www.princetheater.org. This musical is produced by Flying Bulldog Productions LLC. More information about the show can be found onwww.inmybodythemusical.com.

In My Body strives to expose body truths audiences can identify with in personal ways or recognize in their friends and families. Using songs, music, spoken word, body movement and the works of Philadelphia photographer, Leah Macdonald, the characters in In My Body groan, bitch and, sometimes, laugh as they cover and uncover self-consciousness, self-loathing, acceptance, pride, love and other raw truths about how people feel living in their physical and emotional bodies. The musical tackles issues like, fertility, gender identity, obesity, bullying, sexuality, human rights, obsession, trauma, disability, pride, aging, death, self-harm, self-love and more. These issues are presented in traditional and nontraditional ways.

In My Body is a passion project for Kalogris and the other writers. Her company, Flying Bulldog Productions, is producing the show. Noted Philadelphia Director Kathryn MacMillan is helming the show and marking the first time she has directed a musical. Ryan Touhey is the Music Director. K.O. DelMarcelle is the Choreographer. The ensemble includes five actors with local and touring credits. The actors are Katie Zaffrann, Donnie Hammond, April Woodall, Austin Ku, and Michael Indeglio.

"We are proud to premiere In My Body in Philadelphia, where we live, and where our show was birthed. Our characters and their stories are based on our own personal experiences and on interviews with Philadelphia people. In a society obsessed with body culture, I know we all have body stories to share. In My Body reveals some of these stories in a powerful and, we hope, unforgettable way. If our audiences leave Prince Theater unable to stop talking about In My Body, and better able to recognize and accept who they are in their own bodies and to recognize and accept the body issues of others, then we will feel excited," said Lis Kalogris, co-Producer and co-Writer.
