Run, Mourner, Run tells the story of a poor young man from a rural community in North Carolina who is suddenly thrust into a power struggle between the two richest men in town and forced to make a choice that will destroy lives, possibly even his own. This is a poetic and truthful examination of the corruption of power, the power of loneliness, and the struggle to stay upright in a crooked world.
"Tarell Alvin McCraney is one of the brightest stars of the American theatre today, and we are thrilled to be able to bring his genius to Philadelphia for the first time," said Artistic Director Thom Weaver. "With this production, we continue our commitment to being a home for some of the most interesting, diverse, and provocative writers of our generation."
