Flashpoint Theatre Company Closes RUN, MOURNER, RUN, 11/20

Flashpoint Theatre Company opens its 2010-2011 season with the premiere of Run, Mourner, Run by Tarell Alvin McCraney on October 27-November 20 at Second Stage at the Adrienne (2030 Sansom Street).  Directed by Matt Pfeiffer, the ensemble cast includes Jake Blouch, Keith Conallen, Amanda Grove, Melanye Finister, Gerard Joseph,  Aime Kelly, Jon Mulhearn and Brian McCann.
               
With previews on October 27 and 28, Run, Mourner, Run opens on Thursday, October 29 and runs through Sunday, November 20.  Performances are Thursdays, Friday, and Saturdays at 8:00 PM, Sundays at 2:30 PM, and Monday, November 15 at 8:00 PM.  Tickets ranging from $5-$20 are available at www.flashpointtheatre.org or by calling 215-665-9720.
               
Run, Mourner, Run tells the story of a poor young man from a rural community in North Carolina who is suddenly thrust into a power struggle between the two richest men in town and forced to make a choice that will destroy lives, possibly even his own.   This is a poetic and truthful examination of the corruption of power, the power of loneliness, and the struggle to stay upright in a crooked world.

Tarell Alvin McCraney (Playwright) is the author of The Brother/Sister Plays and Wig Out!, both of which have secured his place as one of the freshest, most profound writers in theater today.  His work has been produced at NYSF/The Public Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, The McCarter Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre, and The Vineyard Theatre Company.  A graduate of Yale School of Drama where he received the Cole Porter Award, he is a member of New Dramatists and Teo Castellanos/D-Projects in Miami.
               
Matt Pfeiffer (Director) serves as Associate Artistic Director of Theatre Exile where he's directEd Barrymore-nominated productions of Glengarry Glen Ross, Bug, American Buffalo, and Shining City. Locally he has also directed productions at Walnut St. Theatre, Arden Theatre, Delaware Theatre Co., 1812 Productions, Brat Productions, Lantern Theatre, and 14 seasons with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival. Other credits include Two River Theatre and the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre. The recipient of the 2008 F. Otto Haas Award, Pfeifer has received five Barrymore nominations.
               
Jake Blouch (Terrell's Oldest) makes his Flashpoint Theatre Company debut, having previously served as understudy for the leading roles of Golden Age at both The Kennedy Center and Philadelphia Theatre Company.  He has appeared at Arden Theatre Company in Peter Pan, Brat Productions in The Bald Soprano and Simpatico Theatre Project in Pyretown.
               
Keith Conallen (Dean Williams) returns to Flashpoint Theatre Company where he made his professional debut in Flashpoint Theatre Company's inaugural production The Credeaux Canvas and has since been nominated for a Barrymore Award for Outstanding Leading Actor in Flashpoint's production of Jump/Cut.  A Barrymore nominee this year for Outstanding Leading Actor in The Long Christmas Ride Home at Azuka Theatre Company, he has also worked with Brat Productions, Theatre Exile, and Lantern Theatre Company.
               
Melanye Finister (Aunt Helen) is a member of People's Light & Theatre Company where she has appeared recently in Six Characters in Search of an Author, The Giver, Something You Did, Fabulation, and Member of the Wedding.  She has also been featured locally at InterAct Theatre Company in Jambulu and Arden Theatre Company in Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Amanda Grove (Mrs. Williams) has appeared in the Flashpoint Theatre Company production of Crumble: Lay Me Down Justin Timberlake.  She has also performed with Nice People Theatre Company, EgoPo, Luna Theatre Company, Azuka Theatre Company, Walking Fish Theatre, and Simpatico Theatre Project.
               
Gerard Joseph (Raymond Brown) has appeared in leading roles at the Walnut Street Theatre in  A Matter of Seconds,  Philadelphia Urban Theatre Festival in Roost, Plays and Players in Take Me Out, and Stagecrafters Theater in Solders Play.  He received the Best Audience award at D-town Urban Theatre Festival in New York and appeared off-Broadway at the American Theatre of Actors.
               
Aime Kelly (Gloria Brown) returns to Flashpoint Theatre Company where she last appeared in The Little Dog Laughed.  A recent graduate of the University of the Arts, she has been a frequent performer at Philadelphia Theatre Workshop and with the Walnut Street Theatre Touring Outreach Company.
               
Brian McCann (Percy Terrell) won a Barrymore Award for Glengarry Glen Ross at Theatre Exile.  He has appeared in several productions for Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, Lantern Theatre Company, Hedgerow Theatre Company, Inis Nua and Theatre Exile.
               
Run, Mourner, Run brings together the creative team of set and lighting designer Thom Weaver (this year nominated for three Barrymore awards and an F. Otto Haas Award finalist); costume designer Alison Roberts (a frequent designer at Arden Theatre Company and Theatre Exile); and sound designer Christopher Colucci (nominated this year for two Barrymore Awards).
               
Flashpoint Theatre Company is dedicated to promoting cultural arts awareness in the Greater Philadelphia area through the production of socially provocative and emotionally resonant works of theatre, through the development of educational programming within the community and through collaboration with new and emerging artists from all artistic disciplines.  In its six seasons, Flashpoint has produced 14 Philadelphia premieres, one world premiere and an annual holiday show.
