Curio Theatre Company continues its 11th Season with their take on Arthur Miller's classic exploration of the American Dream, Death of a Salesman. This production is directed by Dan Hodge. The show runs February 4-March 5. Opening Night is Friday, February 12 at 8 p.m. Curio shows typically run on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8 p.m. schedule. Tickets cost $15-$25 per person. Tickets and more information are available online at www.curiotheartre.org.

Arthur Miller's exploration of the American Dream centers on Willy Loman, a salesman who dreams of making it as big as his brother, of providing for his family and of having his sons make a better life. As everyone discovers, not everything turns out as we hope. Death of a Salesman explores who we want to be, what we want for those around us and how we hope to get there.

Local favorite and recent Barrymore Award winner Dan Hodge returns to Curio, after directing the company's searing production of Othello. Paul Kuhn, Curio Theatre Compamy's Artistic Director tackles the role of Willy Loman. Curio Managing Director Gay Carducci, and Kuhn's longtime spouse, returns to the stage after spending time behind the scenes to play his onstage wife Linda Loman.

"Curio had been thinking about doing the show for several years because it's one of the great American plays, and a particularly interesting fit for Paul. When Gay talked to me about directing it, I said I would love to - but only if she would agree to play Linda. It seemed like a perfect fit," said Hodge "The first few rehearsals have only proven me right. They have a depth of relationship and shared humor that you can only really find in people who have lived together through the high times and the lean times. They can live these people in a way that is authentic and beautiful."

Aaron Kirkpatrick, Brian McCann, Chase Byrd, Colleen Hughes, and Robert DaPonte round out the cast. Steven Hungerford is the Set Designer, Aetna Gallagher is the Costume Designer, Tim Martin is the Lighting Designer, and Kyle Yackoski is Sound Designer.

"I'm interested in finding how the stories and lies that the Lomans tell themselves come from a place of love rather than delusion. If the stories began as encouragement or game playing then we can see how even affectionate gestures can grow into destructive forces. This approach will also let us bring some levity into the room so the show isn't a hulking tragedy for the duration," finished Hodge. "It's fascinating to be reading Death of a Salesman right now. The relationships are so clearly and strongly drawn, but it also reveals a touching portrait of a family that has spent years just scraping by. That's something many Americans can identify with right now. It's about the sacrifices people make to keep a household running, and the pressure we put on ourselves to succeed - often without having a clear definition of what 'success' means for us. In that way, this play will always be relevant and immediate."
