Civic Theatre of Allentown's own Civic Theatre School's production of Annie Junior plays its final show on March 27.

Annie Junior will feature everyone's favorite characters and songs, including "It's A Hard Knock Life" and "Tomorrow." This is a show with boundless charm, abundant with music and humor. For over 30 years, people have been entertained with the beloved story of the spunky little redheaded orphan, who escaped from an orphanage and found a stray dog and caring billionaire in her travels to comfort her during the Great Depression. During its original Broadway run, Annie earned seven Tony Awards, and later became a popular feature-length film. Please note that Civic's upcoming production is of Annie Junior, a show based on the original Annie but styled to have kids in every role.

Annie Junior features 9-year old August Fegley of Allentown in the lead role. "It's so exciting to be playing Annie!" said Fegley. "I love all these songs and can't believe I get to sing them on-stage!"

As a bonus curtain-raiser for the first two shows of Annie Junior, the youngest members of Civic Theatre School are performing in an adaption of Laurie Keller's popular book, Scrambled States of America. Civic has obtained special permission by Keller to allow Civic Theatre School to adapt her book into a stage show. "We want to get our first and second grade students a chance to shine in speaking roles," says Civic Artistic Director William Sanders. "Scrambled States will give them that opportunity as well as a really valuable experience in the creative process. I'm thrilled to see what they can do!"

Performances of Annie Junior will run from March 19th through the 27th in Civic's 19th Street Theatre, 527 N 19th St., Allentown. The curtain-raiser Scrambled States of America will be featured before the March 19th and March 20th performances. Free parking is available along Liberty and Allen Streets near 19th Street and in the Wachovia Bank parking lot at 19th and Liberty (after the bank is closed). A complete list of shows, showtimes and ticket prices is on the second page.
