Dickens' classic characters will once again spring to life on Civic Theatre of Allentown's stage as the company presents its 24th Annual production of "A Christmas Carol" beginning Friday, December 6. The production, which will play at Civic's historic Nineteenth Street Theatre, runs through December 21.

"A Christmas Carol" has become a cherished tradition at Civic Theatre. Based on the novella by Charles Dickens, the script has been adapted by Sharon Lee Glassman and William Sanders. Directed by Artistic Director William Sanders, the story is faithful to Dickens' original text with its chilling and heartwarming story of love and redemption.

While the production has remained consistent throughout its 24-year run, every year there is a new wrinkle. This year's production features a new multi-level set by New York designer, Jason Sherwood. As usual, it also employs a multi-generational cast of actors, many of whom are making their Civic Theatre debut. Featured among that cast are Kirk Lawrence-Howard as Scrooge, Nia Clements as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Amanda Mitchell as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Jaeden Reppert as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, Robert Pierno as Tiny Tim, Jeffrey D. Jones as Bob Cratchit, and Kelley Herbert James as Mrs. CratchiT. Ryan MacNamara portrays the Storyteller and Scrooge at 21, Paul Dobson as Scrooge at 13, and Zane Childs as Scrooge at 6.

The majority of young roles in the show have been double cast, giving more young actors the opportunity to perform, with many making their theatrical debuts in this production. "Each year there is an overwhelming turn out for roles, especially for young actors, so we graciously welcome new cast members", says Managing Director, Michael Traupman.

Performances will be at 7pm on December 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 & 21, with 2pm matinees on December 8, 14, 15 & 21. Civic also offers midweek matinees for student groups. Tickets for children 12 and under are always $12. Reduced price adult tickets are $22 opening weekend (December 6-8), $25 on Thursdays, and $26 all other performances. Students and seniors receive a $2 discount from the adult ticket price for all performances.
