Chuckleball: The Sports Comedy & Parody Musical Revue introduces its newest version, Brotherly Glove to the theater at Doc Watson's Pub in Philadelphia beginning August 20.

"We are very excited to finally bring Chuckleball to Philadelphia," says Producer Jason
Goldstein. "We have wanted to open the show here for quite a while. Philly is a city with great sports history and pride; therefore, we thought it was time to shake things up with some roasting and toasting!"

Chuckleball is a fresh and topical musical revue of original song parodies that celebrates the craziness of sports news, sports history, and sports culture. Four actors and a pianist perform impressions and parody songs that mock both national and regional sports headlines as well as sports personalities from all sports. The material is constantly updated and revised. "The show is perfect for diehard sports fans. . .and the women who love them," jokes Goldstein, "but in all seriousness, women who don't know the difference between a touchdown and a slam dunk love the show as much as the ESPN addicts."

Chuckleball has played Off-Broadway in New York City twice. The original production introduced the world to this fast paced revue in the summer of 2004 at The Producer's Club Theatre and a new version entitled Chuckleball: Jailhouse Jocks played at the Snapple Theatre Center in the fall of 2007. There have also been touring dates to theater, colleges and corporate functions including Performance Enhancers: I Keep Working My Way Back From Juice Babe (2005) and There's Always Room For Balco (2006). A highlight was performing at a private gig for Yogi Berra and many other baseball legends in 2008.

The Philadelphia run is the first sit down production outside of New York City. "We chose Brotherly Glove as this season's title to reflect some of the biggest headlines and tense relationships in Philadelphia and national sports alike, such as: The 10-year saga between Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb; Kobe Bryant winning a title without Shaq; how Manny Ramirez is treated differently than any other steroid abusing athletes; and of course, the escapades of T.O.," explains Goldstein.

The cast includes John Disciascio, Jill Jacobs, Davon Williams and Jaime Castellanos at the piano. It is written and directed by Jason Goldstein and Ian Nemser.

Dr. Watson's Pub, near the theater district, is one of Philadelphia's oldest and most exciting bars. The interactive performance venue on the third floor has been home to performances ranging from local bands to national comedy shows. Dr. Watson's Pub is located at 216 South 11th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Performances for Chuckleball: Brotherly Glove begin with previews on Thursday August 20, and Friday, August 21. Opening Night is Saturday August 22. The show will play continuous Saturday evenings at 8:00pm. All tickets priced at $25 are available at www.chuckleball.com.
