Nightcap Cabaret presents LET IT BE starring
Cara Noel Antosca on Saturday April 11th, 8pm and Sunday April 12th, 2pm at Plays & Players on Delancey Place.
Nightcap Cabaret's mission is to contribute to the Philadelphia culture with professional quality, fast-paced, and high energy musical events. We promote and feature the talent of local actors, singers, musicians, and other creative members of our community. We wish to increase the visibility of live theatre artists by sharing resources, promoting good will, and supporting philanthropic endeavors.
LET IT BE starring Cara Noel Antosca is a nod to her musical roots. It's almost all rock, think The Beatles, with a very light sprinkling of Musical Theatre which is her main form of artistic expression. LET IT BE is about celebrating the beginning of her relationship with music in hopes that the audience can also reflect on their own personal relationship with music over time.
Cara Noel Antosca will be accompanied by the talented Dan Kazemi on piano with guest artists Michael Phillip O'Brien and Megan Pisors.
Each performance will also feature opening acts by three emerging Philly artists.
April 11th- Sarah Biddle, Katharine Perry, and Emily Kleimo
April 12th- Nicholas Trawick, Amanda Shaffern, and Chris Bartholomew
Enjoy an interview with Cara Noel:
NC: Who are your top three female heroes and why?
CNA: Always and forever - Two of them will be my mother and mom mom. They are the strongest, most loving women I know. They teach me by the example they lead of what it is to be selfless and to love another unconditionally. They have shown me throughout my life that women have the power to be both vulnerable/in touch with their emotions and feeling AND bad ass, independent fighters. Women harness such power. It's unbelievable.
As for my current lady hero? ALEX KEIPER. Y'all know damn well why.
NC: When you were little, what did you want to be?
CNA: Vet. I love me some animals.
NC: What makes you feel afraid?
CNA: "I'm not afraid of anything,
Be it mountains, water, dragons, dark, or sky.
I'm not afraid of anything,
Tell me where's the challenge if you never try.
So watch me fly,
I'm not afraid."
NC: Who was your first crush?
CNA:
John Lennon.... yes your eyes don't deceive you. And he's still my #1 crush.
NC: What do you love about yourself most?
CNA: I pride myself on being very accepting of others. I definitely treat others as I wish to be treated. Giving love and showing appreciation is an important value to me. When we give, we receive. Also I have some pretty kick ass legs ;-)
NC: What don't you like so much?
CNA: Oy. Well I compare myself far too much to other people. Historically, I have a habit of selling myself way too short and putting others above me. BUT I'm working on it! Doing this cabaret is a great opportunity to build some self esteem, don't you think?
NC: If you got a (new) tattoo, what would it be of?
CNA: I have an infinity symbol on my right foot and I would really love to add on to it. Still thinking this one through.
NC: What would you like to eat for your last meal?
CNA: Maryland Steamed Crabs and an ice cold Pepsi.
NC: What inspired you to be a performer/singer?
CNA: Being raised in a home where music and the arts were not only important but celebrated was a huge factor. Both my parents are involved in the creative arts - Dad is in a band and Mom was a professional dancer and taught dance for most of my childhood.
NC: What made you pic the genre/songs you're performing?
Growing up, my first introduction to music was through classic rock, specifically The Beatles music. My father played so much music and sang to me all the time and seeing his passion for rock ignited mine. Classic rock and really any singer/songwriter music was my first love, ya know. It's the reason I love music. My cabaret is my way of honoring and celebrating that.
NC: What are you most excited about for your performance?
CNA: Performing with my special guest of honor. Hands down. You won't wanna miss it.
All performances will be held at Plays & Players 3rd Floor Studio, 1714 Delancey Place, Philadelphia PA, 19103. $10 Cash Admission. Reserve tickets online at nightcapcabaret.com. Follow @nightcapcabaret on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
