Bright Metal Productions and Plays & Players Presents THE SABBATICAL Image

Plays and Players Theatre and Bright Metal Productions proudly present the production of an Original Devised Play The Sabbatical. Written and performed by the Ensemble.

The Sabbatical is an original work of theater chronicling the lives of the members of a small church congregation. As the stories of their lives intersect, we see these characters struggle with their place in the world, the pitfalls and assurances that come with faith, and the limits of forgiveness. The Sabbatical uses theatrical simplicity, original music, and dance to explore these themes. It Examines what it means to hold sincere and earnest beliefs while avoiding at all costs the kinds of cynicism, derisiveness, and scorn that characterize much of our public discourse in the United States today.

The Ensemble of Fred Brown, Caitlin Collins, Dan Higbee, Michaela Moore, and Martha Stuckey were brought together as collaborators as a part of the Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training and University of the Arts MFA program in Devised Theatre, they created, produced, and performed The Sabbatical originally as a graduate thesis project last year and are very excited to be presenting it now for the public.

The Sabbatical runs from Thursday January 11th through Saturday January 20th, Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30pm at Plays and Players Theatre on the Mainstage Located at 1714 Delancey St. in the Rittenhouse area of Philadelphia, Pa.
