Stanley Bahorek and
Jared Gertner join
Leah Horowitz (
Les Miserables, Thoroughly Modern Millie) and Jordan Toronto in the world premiere of "Ordinary Days", a new musical by composer-lyricist
Adam Gwon.
The musical, which runs July 23-August 2, is the final production in Pennsylvania Centre Stage's 2008 season.
"Ordinary Days" follows the stories of four New Yorkers as their lives become unwittingly intertwined. When stressed-out grad student Deb loses her most precious possession—the notes to her thesis—she starts a chain of events that transforms their ordinary days into something extraordinary. Told through a series of intricately connected songs and vignettes, "Ordinary Days" is an original musical about growing up and enjoying the view.
Gwon's new musical was featured in the 2008 ASCAP/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop, curated by
Stephen Schwartz, and had a previous workshop at the Penn State New Musicals Festival in fall 2007. Gwon was recently awarded a commission from the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA as part of their American Musical Voices Project: The Next Generation.
"Ordinary Days", directed by Matt Toronto, with musical direction by Rick Bertone, will be performed in the Citizens Bank Theatre, at the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center, 146 S. Allen St., State College, PA. Tickets start at $24 and are available at the New Penn State Tickets Downtown, Eisenhower Box Office, Bryce Jordan Center, by calling (814) 863-0255 or 1-800-ARTS-TIX, or online at
