The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) partners with the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts to present TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT: Defining EXTRA-Ordinary, a unique Broadway cabaret featuring performances by Broadway veterans and emerging local talent. Directed by Tony Award-nominated director and choreographer Dan Knetchges (Xanadu, Spelling Bee), TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT concludes a weeklong musical theatre intensive taught by the industry's top directors, choreographers, and industry professionals.
TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT will transport you deep below the City of Dreams into the gritty, fast-paced world of the subway system where the B, D, and F trains are ready to propel you to the utter limits. The explosive Broadway-style cabaret will showcase work and performances by BDF's Artistic Director Nicholas Rodriguez (Tarzan) and Education Director Craig D'Amico (Fiddler on the Roof), Quentin Earl Darrington (Ragtime), acclaimed director Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Ragtime), Tamar Greene (The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess), Gregory Haney (Bring It On The Musical), Kaitlin Hopkins (Noises Off), Emmy Award-nominated choreographer and performer Spencer Liff ("So You Think You Can Dance," Cry Baby), Lindsay Roberts (The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess), and Matthew Scott (Jersey Boys), alongside talented BDF students from the Philadelphia area. TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT will feature selections from the 2014 Tony Award nominees Aladdin andBeautiful, the 2013 Tony Award-winning "Best Musical" Kinky Boots, as well as Stomp,Crazy for You, and more.
The BDF Philadelphia intensive will also feature a day-long master class devoted to the college audition process led by Mary Anna Dennard, renowned college audition coach and author of "I Got In!" Joining Dennard will be representatives from top musical theatre schools including Kaitlin Hopkins (Texas State University), Grant Kretchik (Pace University, Dyson College), Robin Lewis (Rider University),Barbara MacKenzie-Wood (Carnegie Mellon University), Mark Madama (University of Michigan), andAmy Rogers (Pace University). Dennard will also lead an information session for parents.
TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT will be held today, August 9, 2014 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Perelman Theater (300 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA).
