THE BROADWAY DREAMS FOUNDATION (BDF) will host their premiere BDF Summer Performing Arts Intensive program at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts (300 South Broad Street) Tuesday, August 4 through Saturday, August 9, 2009. The goal of the non-profit organization is to bring young talent closer to their Broadway dreams, regardless of their financial status, through an intensive week-long Broadway training program lead by some of Broadway's brightest stars. BDF students will perform a "one night only" concert alongside the Broadway faculty on Friday, August 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Perelman Theater. Acceptance into the program is by application only. Tuition for the program is $1,095.00 per student, however, those who register before June 30, 2009 will receive a discounted fee of $895.00. Scholarship awards are available to students who qualify. Scholarship auditions for the Summer Performing Arts Intensive program will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 in the Mercks Arts Education Center located on Tier 2 of the Kimmel Center.

The week-long BDF Summer Performing Arts Intensive brings together faculty members and 150 students for the most demanding, inspiring and career shaping summer workshop in the country. Students audition for vocal placement within the program and will be invited to audition with NY casting director Craig Burns for a lead role in the final showcase. Each student's track is an individual placement to provide the best possible learning experience. During the course of the week, all students will participate in educational classes on audition skills (focusing on song selection and cold readings) vocal coaching, pop stylings, career planning, college preparation, dance and head shots & resumes. A considerable portion of the week will be spent rehearsing the final showcase - a revue style concert in which the students will perform alongside our renowned faculty. During the rehearsal period, BDF students will learn first hand the dedication and talent required to put together a Broadway caliber show.

The exceptional faculty of the BDF Summer Performing Arts Intensive is comprised of Broadway stars, casting directors and the most sought-after dance and vocal coaches in the industry. Leading the roster are Paul Canaan (Legally Blonde & MTV's "Legally Blonde: The Search For Elle Woods"), Eden Espinosa (Wicked, Brooklyn, Rent), Billy Porter (Grease, Miss Saigon), Amanda Guettel (Urinetown, Cabaret), Carlos L. Encinias (Mama Mia!, Altar Boyz) and Lili Cooper (Spring
Awakening). BDF alum Blake Daniel (Spring Awakening) will also serve as member of the faculty. Blake was a scholarship student in the Atlanta program two years ago when he was encouraged to audition for Spring Awakening and ultimately won the role of "Ernst" on Broadway.

BDF students will also benefit from the instruction of Los Angeles based celebrity vocal coach Dave Barrus (Les Miserables), composer Jeremy Schonfeld, Clear Talent Group agent Jamie Harris and Telsey + Company casting directors Craig Burns and Rachel Hoffman. Additional faculty will be announced shortly.
