Award Winning Philadelphia Playwright Jacqueline Goldfinger Brings World Premiere Of CLICK, To Simpatico Theatre

Celebrated Philadelphia playwright Jacqueline Goldfinger is bringing the world premiere of CLICK, a fast, darkly humorous play, to the award-winning Simpatico Theatre. The work will be staged as a co-production with The University of the Arts as part of Simpatico's "Season of System Failures" from March 27 to April 14, 2019 at The Louis Bluver Theatre at The Drake (302 S. Hicks Street, Philadelphia, PA). Opening night for press is Friday, March 29 at 8PM.
CLICK follows a group of college students involved in a frat rape that goes viral. As we spin forward in time over a decade, the characters create virtual reality identities that blur time and space; designing new technologies to erase a past that's impossible to forget, and grappling with the consequences of real life that can't be changed, no matter how fast you code. It's a uniquely theatrical Sherlock-ian thriller that explores questions of consent, technology and the shifting ethical boundaries between the two.
Directed by Adrienne Mackey, the production features Lexi Greene as Fresh, Rupal Pujara as Anna, David Tibbs as Maria, Joe Falcone as Chaz, and Aaron Shaw as Scottie. The "Greek Chorus" ensemble includes Bryce Menard, Hannah Dougharty, Carmen Camacho Luther, Daniel Burgess, Ke'Vondrea McKinney, Abby Morris, and Deanna Pereira.
All performances of CLICK are "Pay What You Decide" after the show. Audience members can make a reservation online to see the show and after the performance, they can decide what that experience was worth to them. Simpatico is following in the footsteps of Azuka Theatre and throwing open their doors to everyone in the greater Philadelphia community by removing the financial barriers to attending the theatre.
CLICK is currently nominated for the Weissberger Award, and was developed through a Drama League Residency, an Emerson Stage Residency, a Westpoint Playhouse Workshop, and the University of the Arts Factuly Development Fund.

Philadelphia's Jacqueline Goldfinger has won the Yale Drama Prize, Smith Prize, Generations Award, Brown Martin Award, Barrymore Award, and Philadelphia Critics Award. She's been nominated for the Weissberger Award, Blackburn Prize, and Foote Prize, and was a Finalist at the 2018 International Book Awards. Her plays have been developed at theaters including: New Georges, The National Theatre/London, Wilma Theatre, The Kennedy Center, La MaMa, Disquiet/Lisbon, Florida Studio Theatre, Westport Playhouse, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, and Kansas City Rep. Ms. Goldfinger's plays have been produced at theaters including: Perseverance Theatre, Capital Stage Company, Azuka Theatre, The Seattle Public, Manhattan Theatre Works, North Coast Repertory Theatre, Acadia Repertory Theatre, Simpatico Theatre, Know Theatre, Thrown Stone Theatre, and the NYC International Fringe Festival.
Adrienne Mackey, Director of CLICK, has directed over 14 original works including SURVIVE! - a 22,000 square-foot choose-your-own-adventure science installation - and Lady M, a feminist reimagining of Macbeth. Other works include The Ballad of Joe Hill at Eastern State Penitentiary, boasting a sold out FringeArts run and profile on NPR's Radio Times, and Welcome To Campus, in which students narrated experiences of higher education across a 2-mile promenade tour. Adrienne's interest blending theatre with game design has resulted in War of the Words: Philadelphia, a mobile app/site-specific collaboration with Drexel's Entrepreneurial Game Studio, and The End, an alternate reality game mediation on mortality. Mackey is the recipient of an Independence Foundation Fellowship and two Knight Arts Challenges. She is also a classically trained soprano, a former lab chemist, and teaches for Pig Iron's MFA in Devised Theatre.
