Award-winning singer and actress April Woodall (Souvenir, Reading Under the Influence, Gray Matters) is realizing a dream this March in Philadelphia. Woodall will star in the world premiere of Hearing John Denver's Voice, a cabaret exploring her multifaceted relationship with the music of John Denver, at L'Etage (624 S. 6th Street). The unique show will run March 20 and March 21, 2017 at 7:30PM each evening.

Woodall, a graduate of Philadelphia's prestigious Curtis Institute of Music, studied voice with Todd Duncan (the first Porgy of Porgy and Bess) and opera with Boris Goldovsky. Later as Dean of Students at Philly's Academy of Vocal Arts, she was the assistant director at the Spoleto Festival, Italy where she worked with Gian-Carlo Menotti, Luciano Pavarotti, and Richard Hickox. However, after a hiatus from the stage, Ms. Woodall turned to theatre. She has received the Midtown International Theatre Festival Outstanding Solo Performance Award for Born Fat, as well as the Outstanding Lead Actress award for her performance in Gray Matters, both plays by Jacques Lamarre; the Best Actress Award for her performance in Tony Glazer's Reading Under The Influence at The Chain Theatre; Barrymore and SALT nominations for the title role in Souvenir - a fantasia on the life of Florence Foster Jenkins (Montgomery Theater and Cortland Repertory Theatre); and a Carbonell nomination for her performance of Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music (Maltz Jupiter Theatre).

Absorbed with John Denver since her youth, Ms. Woodall has longed to perform an entire evening of Denver's work. However, the allure of John Denver goes beyond the iconic tunes of the singer-songwriter for Woodall: the actress believes that he has guided her through some of the most challenging and exciting parts of her life. In short, John Denver has "spoken" to Woodall.

Tickets to the March shows at L'Etage (624 S. 6th Street, Philadelphia) are $10 at the door, and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Interested attendees are encouraged to arrive early for best seats.
