Auditions For York Little Theater's THE METAMORPHOSES Held 4/27, 4/28

York Little Theatre is holding auditions beginning at 7 p.m. on April 27 or 28, 2009, for all roles in their upcoming production of The Metamorphoses, by Mary Zimmerman, to run June 19 - July 5, 2009.

In The Metamorphoses ancient passions are resurrected with a modern voice as Ovid's thrilling stories of love, betrayal, seduction, dedication, trial, death, blindness and sight reinvent themselves in and around a crystal clear pool. With stunning visual poetry, simple and modern language, and the passion and persistence of stubbornly human characters, the myths of King Midas, Orpheus and Eurydice, Alcyone and Ceyx, Phaeton and more, translate the universal story with stunning alacrity, centered through the elemental force of birth and destruction, water. Funny one moment, achingly sorrowful another, their stories provide a glimpse of the divine.

YLT is looking for mature, dedicated, healthy actors of varying ages and types. Auditioners should be prepared to read from the script, and come dressed comfortably for a movement audition. An optional audition component is 16 bars of a classical song, to be sung a cappella. Resumes and headshots are welcome but not required. Actors must be comfortable in and around water. Swimming skills and excellent balance are a plus. Most actors will play multiple roles.
