Alfred Hitchcock's classic film The Birds will be shown at Hershey Theatre on Saturday, October 29 at 7 p.m. as part of the town's "Halloween In Hershey" celebration.

This 1963 thriller stars Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor and Suzanne Pleshette and was ranked #7 on "100 Years ... 100 Thrills," the American Film Institute's list of the top 100 heart-pounding movies in American cinema.

Based on a 1952 novella by Daphne Du Maurier, The Birds starts with an encounter between wealthy socialite Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) and Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) in a San Francisco pet store. She pursues him to Bodega Bay, where a sea gull swoops down to peck her head. Increasingly, birds start to gather and begin widespread attacks.

The film is rated PG-13.

Tickets are $7 for general admission and are available at the Hershey Theatre Box Office, located at 15 East Caracas Avenue in downtown Hershey. Also available are Hershey Theatre six-packs of tickets for $30; these tickets will be valid for the entire 2011-2012 season.

The Box Office opens at 6 p.m. the evening of the film. A concert on the Theatre's historic four-manual Aeolian-Skinner organ precedes the film at 6:30 p.m.
