Cabaret, the explosive musical about the rise of Nazism set against the backdrop of a seedy German cabaret in the 1930s takes to the Heritage Center stage in Morrisville. Sally Bowles is a talented singer/dancer in "The Kit Kat Club," run by a Nazi sympathizer. Their shows provide a haven to a citizenry confused and frightened by the undercurrents in their land. The club's emcee and gorgeous dancers live a debauched lifestyle as the new order comes to power. Sally meets a naïve American writer who unwittingly helps the Nazis. They move into a tenement together and witness a romance bloom between an elderly Jewish tenant and their landlady. Can young love -- or mature love -- survive in a country embracing hate? Book by Joe Masteroff. Based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood. Music by John Kander and Lyrics by Fred Ebb. Directed by NET Co-Founder and General Manager Joe Doyle of Morrisville. Assistant Director, Pam Jorgensen of Franklin Park, NJ. Musical direction by Pat Masterson of Mount Airy, NJ. Choreography by Dani-Tucci-Juraga of Morrisville. Starring Tess Ammerman of Central NJ as "Sally;" John Bergeron of Pennington, NJ as "Cliff;" and Scott Lutz of Philadelphia as "The Emcee."
