Actors Coming Together to Stage New Works at Hershey Area Playhouse

Actors from Open Stage of Harrisburg, Theater Harrisburg, Hershey Area Playhouse, Oyster Mill Playhouse, Little Theater of Mechanicsburg and Harrisburg Christian Performing Arts Center will all be appearing in eight new works on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Hershey Area Playhouse as part of the theater's Dark Night Series.

Billed as Keep Calm, It's Time to Do or Die, each of the plays and poems deal with survival or extinction. Featured among the works are Cindy Dlugolecki's The Birthday Surprise about a woman surviving cancer and Huffy by Paul Hood about a friendship tested by the state of a borrowed bicycle. Keeping Watch by Kevin Pry, tells the story of soldiers holding an outpost on Christmas Eve, First Draft by Marjorie Bicknell concerns the survival of a play - and a theater company. Three people wonder what happened to their cat, and what's causing a noxious smell in Porch Kings by Beirut Balutis and Randy Gross' Man vs. Cave questions whether a guy can keep being a guy. Also included in the evening are Final Exit-Stage Right by Bill Roddey, Midnight Ramblings by Gale Sherrid and Naomi's Harvest by Marian Dormer.

Among the actors featured in the evening's performance are Beirut Balutis, Dan Burke, Mark Cuddy, Alex Eisenhuth, Sam Eisenhuth, Jedidiah Franklin, Laura Kincaid, Beth McIntosh, Eric Mansilla, Aleax Olivera, Clem Onuk, Bill Roddey, Fiona Sweeney, and Nadira Vasques.

Keep Calm, It's Time to Do or Die will have one performance only at Hershey Area Playhouse on Saturday September 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. There are no advance sales.

Playwrights Alliance of Pennsylvania is a 501c3 artistic organization dedicated to helping playwrights develop and promote new work. The organization meets on the second Sunday of each month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the community rooms at the Camp Hill Giant Food Store. New members are always welcome.
