Act II Playhouse in Ambler presents Making Spirits Bright, a new comedic cabaret for the holiday season, from Dec. 9-28, 2014. Artistic Director Tony Braithwaite and friends present an evening of song, dance, original comedy skits, and holiday-themed improvisation.

Highlights of the evening will include Braithwaite performing David Sedaris' "Front Row Center with Thaddeus Bristol," about a disgruntled theatre critic who reviews children's nativity pageants; a medley of the "Worst Holiday Songs Ever;" and Act II's popular "It Your Wonderful Life" improvisation.

Making Spirits Bright reunites Braithwaite with the team behind 2012's hit variety show Oh, What Fun: Act II's Managing Director Howie Brown, Will Dennis and Sonny Leo. There is also a "bright" new face to the mix: Anne Wechsler, a New York actress.

"The goal of this show is to entertain, to make people laugh and - yes - make their spirits bright," Braithwaite said. "That's a very worthy goal around the holidays. I think people will latch onto, 'the fun and the funny' in this show and hopefully leave the theatre lighter and brighter than when they arrived."

Tickets for Making Spirits Bright are $24-$35 with discounts available for subscribers, seniors and students. Tickets are available by calling the Act II Box Office at (215) 654-0200, in person at 56 E. Butler Ave. in Ambler, or online at www.act2.org. Box office hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
