Act II Playhouse presents the world premiere of Sleeping Handsome, a magical new comedy for kids, on stage in Ambler from April 16-24, 2016. Written by Bill D'Agostino, the play is directed by Act II's Artistic Director Tony Braithwaite.

This new twist on the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale will delight and enchant kids and families. Two talented actors (Eileen Cella and Andy Shaw) play all the characters, including a loyal dog, two magical fairies, a queen, a prince in danger, and a brave girl. This exciting and hilarious new story is created by the team behind Act II's popular Murray the Elf mysteries.

"Act II is committed to producing highly entertaining new plays for kids that can only be seen in Ambler," D'Agostino said. "I'm thrilled that we've been able to expand our offerings for families to a second show, once again building upon our Murray the Elf series. This new tale - about an unlikely heroine in a far-away kingdom - also promises to blend comedy, action, magic, and heart."

Sleeping Handsome is a sort-of-sequel to the Sleeping Beauty story. The plot centers around Dawn, a teenage girl in a once-magical kingdom. When Dawn is manipulated by a mysterious fairy, she accidentally puts Prince Connor into a magical sleep. Will Dawn be able to undo her mistake and wake the prince? She'll need the help of her loyal dog Fletcher and the audience to live happily ever after.

Sleeping Handsome performs Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for two weekends only, April 16-24. Tickets are $10 for kids, $12 for seniors, and $14 for adults. Tickets are available online at http://www.act2.org, by calling the Act II box office at (215) 654-0200, or in person at 56 E. Butler Ave. in Ambler. The show is recommended for all ages, but ideal for ages 5-11.
